We cannot get enough of the results of
RANNY partnering up with Gucci Eyewear and
i_D Magazine! Wearing pieces from the House’s latest collection, Ranny was asked to discuss her unique perspective and ideal vision as part of the project...
What does having a ‘clear vision’ mean to you?
It’s everything. It’s joy, curiosity, insight. Going blind is a big irrational fear of mine, but I like to think I’d cope if it happened. I like the idea of tuning into your other senses more once is lost.
How do you perceive yourself?
Optimistic, driven, a bit of a space cadet but sometimes it’s nicer in the clouds, you know?
How does your particular perspective make itself felt in what you do?
It’s all about empathy, and connection to what I’m creating that really gets me going. If you can’t feel or relate to what you’re doing it always ends up feeling a bit soulless.

Ranny is a London-based artist working across painting and sculpture. Her work revolves around the abstraction of the human body, playing with themes such as gender, sexuality and empowerment, as well as women’s experience of pain, loss and liberation. She paints abstracted nude figures and make sculptures using condoms, resin and plaster. Colour and line are crucial in her practice. The imagery of her paintings derives from photography of bodies which she fractures and reconstructs to create an amiguity of form, often likening the final scenes to landscapes; a metaphor and reading of her work which she encourages.
